Gotta dance! Get ready to bring characters to life through musical theater choreography!

This 60 minute class will use popular Broadway musical and movie songs in order for students to learn musical theater jazz dance basics that are prevalent in the majority of stage and screen musicals.

The focus of this class is to improve physical strength, flexibility, and agility so they are able to better move and dance on stage. In addition to dance technique we’ll also explore what it means to act through dance, dance with strength, and "sell" a dance number to make a fun and engaging performance for any audience. Students will gain confidence and work as an ensemble as they learn choreography to popular musical theater songs to perform on the final day of class.

Level: Beginner thru Intermediate experience

Instructor: Patti Punzi

Important Information regarding this dance class:

Students will be required to wear comfortable clothing that allows them to move easily.Clothing options could be: yoga pants, sweatpants, athletic pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc… are acceptable. Ladies, please no revealing garments.

Dressing in layers is always a good idea, especially in cooler weather.

Students will also be required to wear jazz dance sneakers. Tennis shoes/regular sneakers will work as well.  Please, no slip on tennis shoes (like Vans) as they do not provide proper foot support.  If you already own regular jazz shoes, you may bring them to try out; however, our wood floor may be too slippery so bring along regular sneakers or jazz sneakers as a backup.
