Favorite picture books invoke wonderful memories for all of us. What if that picture book came to life? In this class geared specifically for homeschoolers, we will choose a fun and favorite picture book to adapt into a fun and engaging script that will be performed.

Students will:

• learn how to choose a picture book that is just right for adaptation,
• learn how to craft/write a theatrical script, and
• make that picture book story adaptation come to life onstage!

Students will use their creative writing and language arts skills to craft a script from the chosen picture book. They will also learn and practice the basics of acting through theater games and other activities to include:

• stage directions and theater vocabulary,
• physical and vocal expression,
• character analysis, and
• creating characters that come to life on the stage.

While working as an ensemble, the students will perform their picture book adaptation on the final day of class.
